  1. Why do people choose Regina Health Center (RHC) over other facilities?

People hear about the respected reputation Regina Health Center has in offering quality healthcare in a God-centered environment with kind and loving staff.  RHC is located on the 230 acre campus of Mt. Augustine in Richfield, Ohio.

  1. When and why was RHC established?

The Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Health System moved to Mt. Augustine in 1957.  During the 1980’s there were discussions on the possibility of renovating the building to provide quality healthcare to religious congregations and others who wanted a God-centered environment.  After a $7.3 million renovation, RHC opened its doors in July of 1993.  Today, more than 300 people live, work and visit our campus daily.

  1. Who sponsors RHC?

The Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine sponsor RHC as a collaborative ministry.  RHC’s administration handles daily operations with dedication and expertise.  RHC is a Catholic facility open to all, without regard to religious preference.

  1. What memberships does RHC have?

RHC is a member of American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, Association of Ohio Philanthropic Homes for the Aging, and Ohio Assisted Living Association.  Such membership offers support and opportunities to grow in excellence in order to provide the best quality health care possible.  (Provide links to each of the above groups?)

Mission Statement

Regina Health Center provides compassionate and holistic health care services primarily for members of religious communities, clergy, and for other persons needing supportive services or residential nursing care. Regina Health Center is a collaborative ministry sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Health System.

RHC is a mission-driven organization that devotes its resources toward creative and quality care for residents.  Not-for-profit communities are well known for their fine reputation of serving people whose needs are addressed as a priority.

  1. What healthcare services are available?

RHC was designed to meet a wide array of healthcare needs right on campus for residents.

  • Wellness
  • Outpatient rehabilitation services
  • Emergency Services include 24-hour emergency response by health professionals
  • Assisted Living Services include activities of daily living
  • Nursing Services are provided on a 24-hour basis by qualified, licensed and certified professionals in RHC’s 101 bed skilled nursing facility
  • Special Care Unit provides memory support in a person-centered secure 17 bed unit
  1. Are residents required to turn over all of their assets to RHC?

No, RHC has never had such a policy.  Residents of Assisted Living pay privately the costs.  Residents of the Nursing Home pay privately or costs are covered by Medicare (for skilled care) or Medicaid depending on the circumstances of the care needs or financial needs of the resident.

  1. How do I know if I can afford RHC?

Upon application, RHC looks at an applicant’s income and assets to determine financial eligibility.

  1. Will Long Term Care Insurance pay for any of the services RHC offers?

Depending on your long term care insurance policy, some of the personal care and nursing care provided by RHC may be covered by your policy.

  1. Do you accept Medicare and Medicaid?

RHC’s Nursing Home is a licensed Medicare and Medicaid provider.

  1. Does RHC have a waiting list?

Yes, RHC keeps a list of applicants who are waiting for specific types of accommodations to become available.

  1. Does RHC allow pets?

Family pets are allowed to come and visit.  There are also therapy dogs that visit on a regular basis.

  1. Can I entertain guests?

Family and friends are welcome to dine with you at RHC.  A donation payable to RHC is appreciated and may be left with the receptionist.  Advance notice is requested.  You may also reserve a private dining room for special celebrations.

  1. Does RHC have security or an emergency call system?

All rooms are equipped with an emergency call system with pull cords.  RHC has 24 hour security and our medical staff is on duty 24 hours a day.

  1. Are there guest accommodations for any out-of-town visitors?

Yes, guest suites are available for family or friends.  There is a nominal charge for overnight stays and meals.

  1. What kinds of activities are available at RHC?

There are monthly activities calendars noting the various activities, outings and special events.

  1. Do you provide transportation?

RHC provides transportation for scheduled weekly trips as well as shopping and sight-seeing excursions.  Personal transportation by car is also available for appointments.
