    Rain drops and high winds didn’t stop the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland (and some friends) from connecting with their fellow sisters on Sunday through a “care caravan.” Dozens of cars drove by Regina Health Center and Light of Hearts Villa, honking and waving as they sent special messages through signs.

    Update on Coronavirus/COVID-19 Latest News and Precautions at Regina Health Center »

    From Executive Director Mark Yantek: I am writing to update you on the latest news and developments affecting Regina Health Center as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. As of the time of my writing, I am happy to say that there are no cases of coronavirus among the residents and employees. The many precautions we have taken would seem to be working. Following Ohio Department of Health recommendations, all employees have been issued masks to wear and have received instructions on how and when to use them.

    Regina Health Center Resident Helps the Homeless During COVID-19 Pandemic »

    The St. Paschal Baylon Helping Hands Ministry in Highland Heights has never missed a weekly delivery of meals and supplies to the homeless in Cleveland since it was founded by Deacon Joseph Bourgeois, SSS (Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament) in 2008—and that even includes Christmas day. While the COVID-19 pandemic has shut much of the state down, it hasn’t shut down the urgent needs of the homeless. Deacon Joe has been hard at work from his room at Regina Health Center helping the homeless and serving as an amazing example of everyone doing their part and serving others during this uncertain time.

    Coronavirus/COVID-19 Updated Information - New Dining Guidelines »

    the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued new directives for all licensed facilities across the country regarding congregate meals and Activities. Their guidance, which coincides with that of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), recommends “social distancing” to avoid the transmission of the corona virus from person to person. The surest way to enact this recommendation is to encourage residents to be served meals in their own rooms.

    Executive Director Coronavirus/COVID-19 Statement »

    On March 11th, the Director of the Ohio Department of Health, Dr. Amy Acton, at the direction of Governor DeWine, issued a binding directive to all nursing homes in the State of Ohio restricting all non-essential persons from visiting. Specifically, the order compels us to “restrict access to all Homes only to those personnel who are absolutely necessary for the operation of the Homes”. For this reason, it is incumbent on us to suspend all outside visitors – including delivery persons, volunteers and those attending daily Mass.

    Regina Health Center, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, has named Marlene “Marti” Shivak, RN, as director of nursing. She replaces Janet Cinadr, who retired at the end of January after 19 years as the director of nursing.
