    Regina Health Center in Top 1% in Ohio for Nursing Home and Residential Care Family Satisfaction »

    Regina Health Center scored in the top 1 percent of all Ohio nursing homes in the recently released Ohio Department of Aging family satisfaction survey. With a score of 93.2 out of 100, Regina Health Center placed fifth statewide among 541 nursing homes for which data were available. Regina Health Center, located in Richfield, was the highest scoring nursing home in Northeast Ohio in this survey.

    Resident Spotlight: Thank God for Irish Sisters »

    Sisters Anne and Joan Walsh, SIW, have taken a long, winding road to get to Regina Health Center (RHC). Their father was a farmer in Limerick, Ireland, and the sisters loved to help around the home and farm. From an early age, they knew they were made to serve. Four days before Christmas in 1948, they joined a group of about 20 young women who left their homes in Ireland for America to enter the order of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word (SIW.) They attended college and then began teaching at various Cleveland Diocesan schools.

    On a beautiful June day, like so many other days, Laverne Bishof can be found weeding and pruning the flowerbeds around Regina Health Center (RHC) and making the Madonna Garden the beautiful centerpiece it was intended to be. Laverne has been tending to the gardens at RHC for 19 years. It’s clear from the moment someone pulls into the long drive at RHC how special a place it is. Continuing down the drive reveals the picturesque grounds and gardens, so much attributed to the loving hands of Laverne.

The rich heritage of RHC stems from the many priests, sisters and brothers who have graced the halls since 1993, when the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine opened the doors of their Motherhouse in Richfield, Ohio.

    In 2013, Regina Health Center (RHC) welcomed the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland following the order’s difficult decision to close the Saint Angela Center, which cared for its aging sisters. Sister Catherine Waldron (Sr. St. Ann), OSU, was one of the first 25 Ursuline sisters to be welcomed at Regina Health Center.

    Resident Caregiver Spotlight: Kira Pilar Follows in Mom's Care Giving Footsteps »

    Barb and Kira Pilar are a dynamic mother-daughter duo who put their caregiver skills to work at Regina Health Center (RHC) every day. Barb Pilar, LPN, is a treatment nurse and has worked at RHC since 2004. Daughter Kira followed in her mother’s footsteps a year later, becoming a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) while attending high school. Her career has blossomed since. She became an LPN in 2009 and is now working toward her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at the University of Akron.
